Seeing the recap, I’m surprised the charity cars sold for a lot less than I would’ve bet.

He and John Kraman from the Mecum auctions never cease to amaze me with their knowledge of the minor details for each and every car.

ETA added a letter.

Thats what we were saying. Just seems like the excitement isnt there for a Friday. Covid really knocked this auction down overall. Maybe tomorrow will be better

Some of his spontaneous remarks about a certain rare options on a car is amazing. Some may be scripted, but he isn't memorizing all that stuff. That's already in his head.
He is definitely on my list of car people I want to drink beer with.

Makes me wonder what the super snake and the 275 GTB/4 will go for tomorrow.

Yea it’s hard for me to explain to MrsWafer how much this guy just knows at the drop of a hat, and for some reason why I think that’s so impressive.

I think those cars wont lose anything. Cars like that you might never see again in your lifetime for sale. Might be a 'guy on the couch' buy.

I know right, but we’ve seen the super snake sell 2x already and that’s blowing my mind.

Like when the Grady White family sold the NART Spider. Probably won’t see that again in public.

I think Mecum is doing a show in Houston in a couple weeks.
I'm sure they are watching the results on this one closely.

just found out my wife’s uncle has a 1964 Chevelle SS with a ZZ383 in storage in his warehouse, saw it a few weeks ago.

he bought the car when he was 16 in 1964 and has had it ever since. it was his daily driver for 15 years and the car is high mileage for a collector (>80k miles) but damned if the thing isnt in pristine condition. Everything stock and completely original, paint is immaculate, zero rust. it is black and it is beautiful

Does he still have the original engine for it? The ZZ Series were crate motors and popular swaps in a lot of muscle cars.
In '64 it probably came with the 327 L79 350HP motor. No slouch in that chassis either.

I bet they are. The customs are still going for high prices but most of the other stuff has leveled off. I dont know if i would risk it with the customs right now if i was buying to sell in the future. Seems like theyre in a mini bubble

Good to hear. Those cars don't need to be sitting a dark garage begging to be taken out.

The mustang fell victim to that. Had to get the entire rear-end redone last year because I never drove it

Cars can have a nasty way of payback for unintentional neglect sometimes.

yeah

I was wrong, it is the 327, i messed up the story, he thought about changing the engine to the ZZ but decided against it. I took notes because he was talking a mile a minute and I remembered it wrong. it is 100% all original but the tires
