I’m interested in building in the Lake Charles area. Does anyone know the cost per square foot for a bardominium. Just an idea.

It depends on several factors. They primarily are quality of construction, size of the structure (sq ft), ratio of living area to unfinished area -garage, size of porch, etc. An 'estimated' cost for an average quality of construction structure would be $150 per square foot. In most instances it is no cheaper than a traditional designed home.

If you’re building a live-in bar, I’d suggest the Always Sunny model.

There are several Facebook groups that you can spend hours on discussing all the details of barndo builds.

But asking "how much does it cost to build a barndo" will quickly get you a bunch of hate. It's like asking "how much does a car cost?"

Are you including the garage and equipment storage in your square feet? Or only heated and cooled?

How big?

Two story or one story or loft?

What kind of finishes? Basic, medium, or elaborate?

In general you can get a 5000 sft concrete, rough plumbing, and shell for $200k. So $40 per sft.

Then how much of that do you want to finish? Framing, insulation, electrical and finish plumbing will be another $75 sft for your living area.

Then you've got HVAC, trim, floor coverings, cabinets, appliances, sheetrock, painting... all that is highly variable and can range from an additional $50 to $100 sft.

What about driveway? Landscaping? Exterior lighting?

Back of the envelope would be $50 for garage area and $200 for living area. Plus exterior work.

I'm building one now 30x48 plus porches. 30x30 inside, 30x18 garage.
I got the shell for $38/sf with slab and insulation. The cost of finishing one has so many variables: 75k - 300k depending on quality and how much diy is involved.
Mine will be 2/1 plus a loft with 2 beds and a half bath and cost $120k.
