Baltimore's location between Philly and DC should make it highly desirable to employers and young people......

....it's being held back by its atrocious crime rate and horrible government.

That describes quite a few large cities.

It’s like New Orleans, basically just stay away from the overpass.

What part of "going to hit 300 homicides per year" did you not get?

With a population that's 4-5 times greater.

And both have very nice areas too. These shootings in Chiraq are essentially insulated to their own hoods and it doesn't spill into the touristy areas nor downtown for the most part.

Same as here in Houston - we usually have 200-300 homicides per year but once again, it typically falls within the bad areas of town.

Tearing down a few statues there should fix this.

Clearly, I'm well aware of that. That doesn't mean that I celebrate the deaths of more-than-likely innocent citizens because it makes the opposing political party look bad. That's not wanting unicorns and rainbows, that's just asking you to act like a fricking human being.

Medical business is still strong in Baltimore. Johns Hopkins, Union Memorial are world class with people coming from around the world for treatment.

Baltimore is by far the roughest city I've ever been to. Worse than New Orleans, St. Louis and Detroit. A lot of the homicides in Baltimore go undetected because there are so many abandon houses where the dead bodies ultimately get dumped. There is no way of knowing how many dead bodies are in each house. We're talking blocks upon blocks of abandoned row houses that, if searched, could increase the homicide rate in Baltimore by at least 10% - 20%. Just ruthless and savage type shite going on there at all times it feels third world in a lot of places outside of the inner harbor.

That worked in New Orleans. Almost zero crime there now. Thanks Mitch!

Agreed. You can now go walk around the circle formerly known as Lee at midnight and be safe and sound.

Going to be interesting to see how the posters here react when the next liberal president calls a deep red state a shithole.
