I saw the first ones I've ever seen in the wild a few minutes from my home the other day. They have a nest. I was able to snap this photo. Too bad I couldn't get closer with a better lens.

Go fishing in the spillway and you'll see them pretty often.

You do know it is a $250,000 fine to bother a bald or golden eagle correct? They consider a "take" pretty much any act that would cause an eagle not to nest in an area or abandon an area where they have been seen starting to nest. I have tower crews pushing the limits with the Migratory Bird Treaty act every day during nesting season. Most have no clue as to the fines they could face.

I saw one flying over my sister's house in Bell City.

I love seeing it. They're magnificent.

There are two "versions" of bald eagles.

There's the northern version that lives in Alaska, Washington, Iowa, etc, (the northern is a bit larger than the southern) and then there's a Southern Bald Eagle.

That's what's here. I saw them several times a week when I lived in Florida.

They're monogamous and mate for life. Beautiful and magnificent animals.

Glad you saw one!

Thank Dollywood surprisingly, they have done a fantastic job of helping restore bald eagles to the southeast and elsewhere.

Well it's a group that is based with Dollywood, American Eagle Foundation.

There's also two nests right off Hwy 1 between Morganza and Batchelor.

Now three. The new one is off towards the river just as you leave Morganza going up the ramp back in the woods. Also, there is one back in the woods in the "ball park area" too.

I have a nest also on my place which is just outside of New Roads.

They're fairly common in SC.

It is amazing how they've recovered over the years.

They're not that rare. I've seen them while driving over the Atchafalaya basin a few times.

This. There's many in the Atchafalaya Basin, there's one that hangs out at BASF in Geismar, there's a few along Severio Canal in St. Amant, and there's a large nest right off of I-10 near the Boutte exit in that cypress swamp.

Bald Eagles are very plentiful in SE Louisiana

You could probably see one every day but most people aren't looking for them

People come down to where my camp is from all over the country and pay big money for these guided bald eagle site-seeing tours. I'm talking $250 a pop

We laugh at them every time we see a pontoon, party barge type boat full of Yankees looking through their binoculars for a chance to see a bald eagle.

we see them (the eagles) by the dozens on any given weekend.
