Sitting at work today and I get a call to come to my brothers work quickly because he has had a seizure and is bleeding profusely. He's 35 and has never had a seizure. I'm already freaking out on the way over there and when I get there he is laying down in the gravel parking lot and someone is holding his head up in their lap, blood is all over his face. I thought he was only resting but they said he hadn't regained consciousness. My poor sister who saw the whole thing said he spun around with his arms up in the air and fell to the ground having a seizure that lasted 5 minutes. I thought he had a stroke. I get on the ground with him and hold his hand and tell him that I love him and that it will be alright. After a few minutes of doing this he opens his eyes and just stares at me for 4-5 minutes while I talk to him. Suddenly he asks what happened. I tell him he had a seizure and that I have been talking to him for a while, which he didn't know. Once the ambulance arrives he tells them some gibberish and that it is 2006. He gets taken to the hospital where a CAT scan shows nothing. He will be there overnight seeing a neurologist but at this point there is no explanation. Long story I know. Call your brothers and sisters and tell them you love them, you never know what tomorrow holds. Fortunately I tell my brother I love him all the time.

Seizures are scary as hell. My son has them. Good news is they are treatable, good luck to him and your family

he had a seizure for 5 minutes, you drove to his work, you hold his hand for a few minutes, talk to him for 4-5 minutes after he wakes up and the ambulance just gets there?

seems like that took forever.

Not true.

Call 911, they can stop it.

And a person with epilepsy usually has diastat (liquid valium injected via rectum) to stop the seizure if it lasts for.more than a few minutes

He was bleeding because he fell face first, when I first heard he was bleeding I thought it was something else and I was terrified. Yes it took the ambulance at least 20min to get there.

Make sure they check his electrolyte levels. My mom had one last year caused by low blood sodium.

This is scary when there is no medical explanation.

I was inferring that there is nothing an untrained medical professional can do.

Good thing people were around when this happened. What happened is terrible and scary at such a relatively young age but it could've been worse.

My dog had a seizure during a hunt this season on account of low sodium or low sugar, don't recall.

One of my friends had them for years at weird times. He has been seizure free for six years. It took the right doctor with the right medication but he is fine today. I saw him have some, freaked me out

Prayers sent. Witnessed my Aunt have a grand mal seizure while cooking Thanksgiving dinner back when I was 7 or 8 years old. Scary thing to see.

I wonder if they can give him meds that he can take preemptively if he feels it coming on.
