There is no problem with setting up at the waters edge. That is perfectly legal.
I understand. They WANT to control more than they are entitled too. They don’t want anyone even in the public area and they harass them.
You really think the owners want anyone in front of their house? Of course they don’t but they can’t say that.

I think it has grown because this one hag is setting up in his yard. She knows where the property that is his is. She also knows the police are hesitant to ticket her. She sees this as her way of sticking it to the man.

Oh ok. Sure. One person can definitely make life miserable.

Well, TBH, he should suffer some eternal punishment for having been a Backstreet Boy.

Most accurate statement in the thread.

NO THEY DONT. I live here and can promise you that is not what this is about.
Rental properties north of 30A who have no deeded beach access have always been able to illgaly use private beaches and access points. In 2024, the county has started to enforce the law where those renteres and homeowners are no longer allowed access. While the county will remove anyone from illegalyy accessing a private beach, they have yet to issue citations to those violators and thats why Brian (back street boy) is suing.
Again, I wont say all, but the majority of beach front homeowners are NOT trying to prevent anyone from beach access below the MHTWL.

Oh frick off with this disingenuous post. Beach front owners don’t want anyone but them there. And they count on anyone there not knowing the law to run them off.
This is a private beach!
Yall don’t say, hey it’s private but it’s OK if you stay within the MHTWL. And where exactly is it marked? You got markers out there so you don’t harass people mistakenly? frick no. You say it’s private and ask them to leave.

Family / friends own property there.
The basic guideline for the MHWL is where the dry sand starts. Period.
It is the 18 yr avg for the point of one foot above the water level. Some days that is out in the surf.
And we’ve never heard of anyone stopping people from walking by or thru the dry sand.
You just can’t set up camp with your red igloo and Walmart umbrella.

Dry/wet sand is not dispositive of where the MHWL is. Your “Period” doesn’t mean jack shite. It can be on so called “dry” sand as well as out in the surf like you said.
So yes, I can set up camp with my umbrella and igloo even on dry looking sand if I’m seaward of the MHWL. Sand looking dry is not the test. But beach owners say that and tell people to stay on the wet looking sand because it’s a test that benefits them.
Hopefully some new apps can solve some of these problems that shows where the line is accurately with your phone location regardless of whether the sand is wet or dry as a general gauge.
I also think the new MHWL data comes out in 2026. Beach owners are terrified that the MHWL will move closer to their house.

Sounds like you are north of 98 and relegated to public access.

This guy's a douche and pissed that his fame world more power with the sheriff's office. Desantis has already signed a bill that has given local jurisdiction s the authority to tell people like him to go f themselves....they just need to be written into law. Unfortunately for this douche, they have told their LEOs to stand down, which means a law is likely coming.

You sound like a little bitch who cant afford to rent beach front property and now you're salty becuase you cant set up your living room for the day on someone elses private property.

You’ve just proven my point. Thank you.
What I don’t like is rich people thinking rules don’t apply to them and try to push people around who are ignorant of the law and their rights. The law is supposed to be blind whether you are in a famous boy band or not. This guy goes on FOX with his lawyer. Douche bag move.
Assholes on both sides. At least be honest and admit that.
And I could easily buy that home but I’d rather rent a beach place at this point in my life.

Exactly. You want to trespass on someone else’s private property because you don’t like the law.

I never said that or advocated that. You’re putting words in my mouth. Another disingenuous post.
The law is the law whether I like it or not.

I have a place in Seagrove next to Goatfeathers and we were lucky enough to have a access point to the beach annexed years ago before three gozillionaires built 10 million dollar beach homes with private access all the way to the water. They actually have a security guard that will run people off during peak times. We were lucky to hit it off with the beach owners and are allowed to set up on their property when we go. That security guard would break her chairs and throw them in the water. He doesn't play. We love all the privacy.

They have security because the condos next door think they own they entire beach in that area.
BTW, that’s a sweet spot if you’re on the street I think.
