How many people are named cleopatra or Atticus?
These names are absurd.

Indeed it did, but I was assuming someone in this thread (including the OP) actually read the topic of this thread.
Silly me for making assumptions.

Are you saying that no one has ever had these names?

you start off the thread saying you're a fan of the classic names and then vomit this statement.

Could easily be shortened to Bil with little effort.

So much for your claims of being a "classicist", I guess.

No, I am saying they are not practical names today. Certainly not names one would call good.

Wtf is a "practical" name? You're creating rules for names that don't exist.
What about Lucious?
ETA: not exactly to your criteria, but your criteria is rather ridiculous

The OP said that he wanted a 3 syllable name that kids wouldn't shorten. There are plenty of names mentioned (mostly girls) that people don't automatically shorten. It is usually a product of the person with the name shortening it because they like it better.

Classicism evolves. Cleopatra was cool a few thousand years ago.

Of course you can shorten any three syllable name. That goes without saying. It's a matter of if it's common, or even an acceptable name.
Nevertheless:
Washington
Jacoby
Alyssa
Sacajawea

three syllables or more, that is both good and will not be truncated.
Any name can be truncated jackass, even most 2 syllable names.

Is there a dumb reason why Penelope wouldn't work?
Let me guess. Can be shortened to Pen or Penelop.

Dropping the L does not alter syllable count when spoken.
