re: Baby Names: Good first names with more than two syllables

So help me just understand, that means it doesn't qualify as a quality, non-truncated 3+ syllable name?
Posted on 6/13/14 at 2:39 pm to Swoopin
Not necessarily. It's a matter of opinion to a degree but depending upon circumstances, the likelihood of truncation increases. For example, that kid had three siblings.
Jeremy - Valerie -Jordan - Justin
Guess which two got truncated by mom? When you're calling that many names repeatedly, the extra syllables drop, habits form, and the kid wants a constant.
I'd prefer to name them something that they will be called.

My wife and I were close to naming our daughter Adelaide after the city in Australia not the restaurant, but were afraid she would become Addy.

Adrian. It is more than 2 syllables and can't really be shortened.

It's cool, I do the same. I have heard 'Drin a couple of times but it never even came close to sticking.

I know, some parents force it too much, to the point of, WTF didn't you just name the kid that?

If anything people have always tried to make my name longer....they think it's clever to add a "yo" in front of it.

same here, except it's usually something like a-hole after it

I'll take "Threads that I never imagined in my life would go 20+ pages" for $1,000, Alex.

Have you agreed with anyone in this thread.
I really don't see why any of this matters

I've agreed with some, some agreed with me. Little of anything discussed here matters.
I know, I should have figured out a new way to discuss pyramid schemes or Uber. Maybe a lunch or LNST thread?
Others seemed to enjoy it.
