so yea, my opinion on this is extremely valid at the moment.
So pretty much my wife is having one or had one and now I have to defend that position. Lol, Salmon was the same way. At least he admitted his wife's Pinterest need in a few of those older threads.

I've defended this position long before my wife and I tried for a kid. Nice try.

Baby gender reveal party......

seems so simple
Wait, is this party during a football game? Because if so, frick them and their unborn baby!!!

And of course it's for attention. But women like that. For millions of years women have liked being in the center of attention. It is harmless. I love college football. Is there truly any point to caring about a sport? No, but my wife knows I enjoy it so she lets me attend road games and plan trips with my friends.
I know my wife wanted a gender reveal so I didn't even think twice about it
And for all these beta talkers, you are the true betas. Y'all don't truly hate the party, as they are generally fun, you hate the idea of other people talking bad about you being a weak husband. And there is nothing more beta then worrying what others say about you, especially at the expense of doing something nice for your wife
Alpha out

Every female in your extended family most certainly cares about baby gender.
We didn't find out with ours. It's bad ju-ju.
"Hey, It's a boy!!!"....two months later "It's still-born."
But if somebody wants to have a party I'm game.

Congrats. Let's have this convo in a few years when every weekend is overtaken by your kids friends birthday parties. Then mix in a gender reveal for a girl with no kids, while your wife is tired and busy chasing your kid around during he party.

The whole attention seeking thing is out of hand. A co-worker has just spent the last 3-4 weeks at work planning her son's first birthday party. It's all she has talked about and each time I have walked up to her desk she has been online party planning for her "circus" birthday party complete with live animals, etc. She was talking about the thousands of dollars she has spent and how she has to keep up with what the other mothers have done recently for their kid's birthday. It's all about the parent egos and nothing to do with the kid.
If you're a likable person with a kid, I challenge you to go to work every day and refuse to talk about your child and the events in his/her life. Seriously, good luck.
I used to think much like you, but once I had children, that is all anyone wanted to talk about at work. Every time I walk through different departments they want to see pictures and talk about their first words or first steps. If I go a week without posting a picture or two of my children on Facebook, my wife and I get texts from out-of-state family members asking for an update and what not.
If you're a good person, and people actually like you, it is plausible that they're genuinely interested in your happenings and it has absolutely nothing to do with "attention-whoring." In fact, I've found that the people who denounce "attention-whoring" the most are often the least sociable and, dare I say it, the most jealous of the attention they're criticizing.

Plenty of my friends have kids already, and I have no issue doing things for their kids.

My son and his wife are having twins. For their gender reveal they had her mother as the only person who knew. She got plastic baseballs with halves that would snap together. She then either put pink or blue powder inside two balls. My son's wife pitched the balls, one at a time to my son. When he hit the ball, it would explode into a cloud of either pink or blue. It was a cool idea and everyone had a good time without being labeled.

Everyone I have been to I have drank a lot of beer, ate a lot of food, and hung out with my friends. And I generally to enjoy finding out the sex of the baby. It is an exciting time in a friend/family members life. I enjoy sharing that.
Exactly. If it makes the haters feel better, let's call it a "Slackster House Party" with all the beer and food you could want with quality company, but it just so happens to have a few blue and pink balloons in the living room and a 60-second interruption to declare whether or not my child has a penis.

Sounds like the worst time ever and your son and daughter-in-law should be tarred and feathered for forcing their friends and family at gunpoint to mingle.

So do all the alphas in here hate grilling out with friends?
Crawfish boils?
Tailgates?
Because it is the exact same thing with a slight pause to say a babies gender
I have no idea it was possible to not enjoy them

Sorry. I'm all about me some late-term abortion. If only your parents had the foresight... Because you are about a stupid bastard in everything you post. A model of consistency. I salute you.
