Swaddle them tight to where they have to sleep on their back.

King king couldn't swaddle my son tight enough for him not to be spread eagle and uncovered in less than two minutes.

Been like that since birth. Poor old nurse swaddled him, he screamed his arse off. She set him down to take off gloves, turned around, and he was back to being just in a diaper.

I think once they can roll over themselves it’s a non issue.

But before being able to do that, it’s recommended they sleep on their back.

There was a time when you were choosing how your kid slept.

Get a newton baby crib mattress. Super breathable. Rather than a typical mattress it’s nothing but a mesh of strands with lots of air passage.

Put her on her back. If she rolls over herself it’s ok. Don’t put her on her stomach.

If you put the baby down on her back and she rolls to her tummy, that’s fine. But if you are putting her down on her tummy, that’s a big risk for SIDS

some good advice in this thread and a lot of bad.

swaddle them until they can roll over from their stomach to their back. if you let them sleep on their stomach under 6 months, there is a significant risk of SIDS.

This thread is why every mother/baby hospital is plastered floor to ceiling with instructions about sleeping. People are constantly told by friends and family not to do what the doctor tells them bc "well my kid turned out fine".

The little hands-in-the-air swaddles are the best

I have 3 kids. My daughter absolutely would not sleep on her back. We tried everything. Eventually the pediatrician was like “you’re not a bad parent if you let her sleep on her tummy.”

No real issues after that.

Just let her sleep on her stomach. All of mine did and they're all fine. That was a battle with my wife because she wanted to do everything the doc said by the book and it got to the point where either you let her sleep on her stomach so you can also get some sleep, or no one freaking sleeps.

Same here. As long as you don’t put her in anything that could cover her airway she’ll be fine. Plus everyone knows SIDS is from vaccines anyway.

akthough SIDS is rare. I don’t think I could live with myself past the funeral if my need for sleep ultimately put my baby in more danger, no matter how small

Both of them slept on their stomach from the time they turned ~3 months because they slept much better. Its not the end of the world
