That is very sad. Being able to learn to fly a B-17 must have been amazing for them. Going back in time to actual non-computer aided aviation.

That’s not why you’re getting downvoted. It’s the fact that you assumed the P63 pilot could see the bomber and then called him out for intentionally slamming into the bomber.
If you truly believe that guy did this on purpose, you are a fricking moron.

New angle.
LINK
Pilot may have been looking elsewhere but it does look as though he had direct line of sight towards the bomber. Once again no signs of evasive actions. That plane is meant to be agile. He isn’t pulling back hard, rolling or anything to indicate that.
Either he was fixated on something else or medical emergency. Very odd any which way.

Wow. Look at the number of planes in the vicinity.

Even if he was fixated on something else you gotta wonder what he was doing even reasonably close or on a reasonably close heading. That B17 didn’t just come out of nowhere.
Tragic

The amount of stupidity in some of the reactions to that tweet is astounding.

I don’t understand why people try so hard to be edgy or oppositional in threads like this. Making fun of the deaths, it’s just exceedingly fake and screams try hard.

The kid sounds instantly traumatized and desperate for someone to tell him/her that this is all just part of the show.

Dang he sliced that big bird right in half. At least for the victims, it was over fast.

Several people on here are limp dick pussies that think they’re cooler or smarter than they really are.

Can the bomber getting lost in the Sun be ruled out? Don't know what direction the Sun is in the sky in that vid, but seeing as how it is late Fall, the Sun would be (relatively) low to the horizon. Is there a chance the pilot of the smaller plane didn't see the bomber when it crossed in front of the Sun (relative to the plane), and that this was further exacerbated by the plane banking?

Possibly, but it is much more likely that he didn’t see him under the nose or was clearing to the inside of his turn.

Such sadness. Here are pictures of the bird and crew in Opelousas recently:

These are the two pilots flying the aircraft pictured:
In the hours following the accident, the Allied Pilots Association, a union representing American Airlines pilots, confirmed on Twitter that two former members, Terry Barker and Len Root, were part of the B-17 crew and died in the crash.

From that angle it looks like he is making small adjustments as if targeting the B-17.
Not saying he is, but you see small changes to his bank.
