It depends, but let's call it between $2500 and $10K for a week or so experience.

Is a week necessary?

Do they offer more condensed trips?

Forget the retreat. Just do DMT at a Widespread Panic show. It’s worked for me on numerous occasions

I’m not going to tell anyone to do or not do Ayahuasca, but be extremely diligent in your choosing. I have property on the Amazon headwaters on Ucayali River a click north of Pucallpa, Peru. My people there have shuttled a dozen (that I know of) Americans down river for help when they came across them wandering bewildered and abandoned, eaten up by ants and mosquitoes. One girl is still in country after 3 months recovering.

Probably extreme outliers, everyone live their life. But if it were me, don’t put yourself in an environment like the Amazon if you’re going to willfully subvert all of your sensory faculties for a period of time.

psilocybin (mushrooms) -
iboga
ayahuasca
5meo-DMT (toad)

MycoMeditations

This is the leading psilocybin retreat in the world. It's in Treasure Beach, Jamaica, which is really out in the sticks. It's a week long, 3 dose protocol in a group setting (5-10 guests per retreat). If you don't believe me, spend some time reading their reviews on TripAdvisor. And here's the owner on the Soft White Underbelly podcast. It's a western, therapeutic (i.e. non-shamanic) model that is very accessible to regular folks like us from the States. Each retreat has multiple facilitators, retreat leader, retreat therapist and psychiatrist/doctor on stand by for any emergencies.

Iboga Wellness Center

This is one of the best iboga retreats in the world and it's located in Costa Rica. Iboga comes not in a shamanic tradition, necessarily, but it is an ancient African tribal tradition, so all of the high-quality practitioners have been trained by the Bwiti people in Gabon. The owner here is no exception. He has years of experience serving hundreds of guests in a beautiful, safe setting. Here's a podcast with him. Ibogaine - an isolated alkaloid from the iboga bush - is famous for treating substance addiction and PTSD ( Shawn Ryan podcast discussing his experience and how transformative it was for him). However, iboga retreats for the well who want to be even better are extremely beneficial. Unlike some of the other psychedelics that put you kind of "out there", iboga is known for being very earth bound, human and literal. A real chance to probe the interior of your mind and your soul. Iboga is known for taking a "squeegee" to your brain and body - many report feeling entirely rejuvenated, spiritually, mentally and physically for months after. (Note: misuse of iboga does carry actual potential health risks - unlike most of the other psychedelics. Any reputable center will require you to get an EKG from your doctor AND to submit to another one when you are there). Protocol is 2 doses - but just know that each one lasts for 24-36 hours, so the retreat is also a week long.

Arkana Retreats

The right place to do ayahuasca is in South America (Peru). Arkana has multiple locations. If you can take the jungle/insects, then go to the Iquitos location. If not, head to the Sacred Valley. They also offer San Pedro, tobacco and kambo add-ons to their retreats. Aya is essentially extended DMT, so prepare for a ride. It will be both difficult and ecstatic - and likely soul cleansing. You can pick from a number of retreat options, 2 - 4 experiences or longer.

Enfold

Situated on an island off the coast of Vancouver, Enfold is truly the world leader in 5Meo retreats. There is a decently reputable one in central Mexico, but I would not recommend it as highly as Enfold. 5Meo is known as the world's most powerful psychedelic - and is sort of the other side of the iboga coin. With 5, you WILL be launched into an entirely different, egoless dimension - and in 10 seconds or less! A truly beautiful medicine that will allow you to dissolve into the universe and reset your nervous system. Retreats are five days and 5 is dosed in 2 different protocols. The owners have curated a truly beautiful and safe experience for guests - a great thing, since 5 has led to a lot of abusive charlatans around the world mistreating guests.

Since you are getting old and if there isn’t kids around for about 100 bucks you can make DMT. Just YouTube it, it’s fairly easy. Can get the items from Amazon and Walmart.

If you are looking for a very spiritual experience PolkaDot mushroom chocolate bars (they have 4-ACO-DMT similar to the Toad) you’ll talk to god.

Yes, if you really want to release yourself to the experience and do some work.

Damn, dude, how di you come to own that?

Yeah, no telling what those people were up to. Certainly they were not at a safe retreat center.

Nope. 4ACO is synthetic psilocybin.

Serious question, why don't people just use acid in the comfort of their home versus going through all the trouble and risks of a retreat in the Amazon for ayahuasca?

Added to the fact that you dont puke your guts out on acid either.

I would never do a psychedelic with a large group of people around or even nearby.

That's just a much different experience than having a guided, curated experience. You aren't just "taking acid". It's all very intentional - with lots of prep and lots of "integration" afterwards. Also, acid is a Schedule 1 narcotic.

Ayahuasca isn't the only option. But, "puking your guts out" (if it happens) is referred to as "purging" - and is often perceived by the person as an actual part of the work. i.e. It's not just vomiting.

I would encourage you to be less close minded. Group retreats are a very powerful modality. There is major healing and comfort in a community setting - but you still have all the privacy you want.

What would be your recommendation for a rookie?

Mineral, timber, and missionary reasons over generations. We lease several thousand hectares to cattleman and fruit farmers and have an airport in conjunction with the Swiss Mission. Pucallpa is a wonderful place and the native Shipibo people are wonderful. But cartels and immigrants from other SA countries are taking advantage of a boomtown.

Shining path was the danger when I was a kid, but the squatters and cartels are no joke now. We employ professional operators for security but it’s no use, we lose about an hectare a day on average.

Not to hijack thread; back to original point, go over the top with referrals and research before going to Amazonas or Ucayali Peru for any sort of retreat.

Would you be willing to be a little more detailed about your situation and what exactly you are seeking? 5meo is a big start and Enfold won't always accept applicants that are "rookies".
