High unemployment and high incarceration rates for black men also lower the likelihood of single black women finding a partner to help build a more secure financial future.

I’m sure I’d be loaded (or dead) if I was single, but that’s just how economics work. Look at this smile on my face as “life is short, life is shite, and then you die” repeats in my head

It’s expensive as hell to be single

Yep. Getting married was one of the best financial decisions I have made. Dual income when wife makes good money have really accelerated our savings

I'm in much better shape as far as the pretty meaningless "net worth" than I thought.

You think the most important measurable financial metric is meaningless?

are y'all financial advisors? are they telling you about their financial situation. are you just guessing?

How does one arrive at this information.? There is not a single friend or relative that knows what I am worth, and if they were to guess it would likely not be even close. Likewise I have no clue what the net worth of any of my friends or relatives in their 60s or 70s might be. Anyone that actually talks about such things is probably lying.

It is pretty easy to figure it out for most people if you work with enough of them for a long time. Plus, it really doesn't take much to get to the $1-2M mark when you factor in real estate and retirement accounts.
