I was having recall work done at the Toyota dealership when they tried the air filter scam on an old lady who was sitting next to me. The tech brought the filter in and it wasn't dirty..told her she didn't need it
That’s nice you brought your wife’s car to the dealership
Sad that you caused that old lady to have more issues down the road caused by improper maintenance

Napa express told me my cabin filter was filthy and it was $85 to replace. Got it at walmarks for $12 and took 15 seconds to swap.
Whats sad is if they had saod 35 i would have just said yea and saved myself the trip.
Greedy

It was a leaf spring recall on my Tacoma, sir.
Improper maintenance on an air filter that didn't need changing? What a frickin crock.

Taint no such a thing as a false reading. The sensor can be faulty and trigger a code but the sensor needs to be replaced at a minimum. If you got a code light you got an issue bru.
Yeah, right.

Go on a just ignore your warning light. You're asking for trouble. It's a signal something is failing. You'll be the first to bitch when your left on the side of the road. Or you'll fail an Emissions test if your in a parish that requires them. You won't know until it happens

I want your take on fuel injector cleaner service.

asked for the old filter when I returned to use my air compressor on and they couldn’t provide it. Obviously didn’t pay but I bet they scam so many people.
Did they just immediately agree to not charge you? You should have simply asked to go take a look at the new one? The new one should be easily distinguished. Have you looked at the "new" one since?

If you have a vehicle with direct injection, then fuel injector and induction cleaning every 30k is a good idea as the intake valves get a ton of carbon buildup due to no fuel being sprayed across them and the injectors have really tiny openings in the nozzles due to needing to atomize fuel at over 1000psi.
If you have a port injected vehicle it's not so critical as long as you are using a good quality gas with detergent additives.
Adding a good quality fuel system additive such as BG 44K maybe every fifth fill-up is a good idea, cost effective, and you can buy it online and do it yourself. Won't help with the carbon in the induction system but will help with crud buildup on the injector tips.

Right.. makes no sense to pay the egregiously expensive price to replace something that takes last than a minute to change.

I'm not saying that you should ignore it, but that you should do your due diligence and get a second opinion before a mechanic simply reads a code that reads multiple possible problems and tells you that you need a new catalytic converter.

I can agree with that. But never assume it's not big deal
Posted on 10/19/24 at 9:33 pm to Funky Tide 8
And BTW, if it turns out you really do need a catalytic converter, just cut one off some soma bitches car and put it on yours.
