The Florida legislature passed a bill that originally was almost identical to this Australia bill, but De Santis vetoed the original bill and later signed a pretty watered down version of the original bill.
Now, even the watered down Florida law is being challenged in court as a First Amendment violation.
Almost every other country in the world has less free speech protections than the US (look at stuff like Holocaust denial and hate speech laws), so although this type of legislation is unconstitutional in the US I'm not knowledgeable enough on the Australia constitution to know if it would be violate the Australian constitution.
