Denver then Austin. In a couple years I will probably be considering this type of decision with maybe North Carolina added in as well.

My two kids, ages 23 and 27, both live in Denver and love it. They tell me that they are never moving back to Louisiana That part makes me sad, but I love visiting in Denver. Have not been to Austin in a long time, but had a friend who lived there and moved back to Louisiana! Best of luck on your move.

As a Texas native, even I would choose Denver. Austin is cool but its not Denver.

You don't need a weekend ski trip. When I lived in Denver we took day trips all the time. Keystone was an hour and a half away.

If you want to be able to visit relatively easy, then the answer is Austin.
I bet flying from Denver to BTR is quicker or close to as quick than flying from Austin.

I'd go with Denver. I almost moved to Golden a couple of years ago, spent some time there loved it, job fell through unfortunately. I just moved to Austin a month ago, and while I like it and its closer to home (SELA) it just isn't Colorado. Austin is growing so much its losing its charm.
Either one is going to be full of a bunch of people who aren't from there. It just depends on if you're more into outdoors like hiking, biking, etc. or hunting and being closer to family and friends.
But there are a lot worse places to live.
ETA: No state income tax in Texas, which is nice.

I also would look at Ft. Collins

The only thing that gives Austin a chance is no state income tax. Denver all the way for me tho
and boarding. The life

In what sense? I'm looking for places around Denver to live when I graduate.

Denver, Austin is becoming over populated. Jobs are harder to find and paying less as a result

It's not near the as big as Denver, has a great college town vibe, close to just as much outdoor activities, and a lot more affordable. Ft. Collins is too far to commute to Denver IMO.
I prefer smaller towns. Ft. Collins is almost too big for me. I'd move to a smaller town outside Austin if I knew it wasn't going to get eaten up with sprawl in 5 years.

I would favor Denver over Austin, especially if Denver comes with the better job. My wife and I are considering Denver when she gets out of professional school.

Got ya. I got a year to think about it.
Any experience with Colorado Springs?

Other than James Dobson being there it's a great place to live.

Never had any desire. Too many churches for my taste, not judging just not my cup of tea. Beautiful surrounding area though. But that can be said of any part of Colorado minus the Eastern Plains.

Interesting. Thanks for the perspective guys.
I'll be 25 and single (most likely, doubt I'm finding a keeper here in Starkville
). Definitely interested in nightlife AND the outdoors/skiing.
