Kyle will be better once it is built up with liberal families who can finally stop worrying about why the Hispanics commit so many violet crimes. Hopefully the liberals can price/push the culture out to Seguin and make Kyle safe.

I’m aware. Meta just announced a new data center and every new neighbor I meet is from out of state or fleeing Austin. Property taxes are raping most people I know.

North Belton, Temple out by the lake, Salado, and East Temple are good living but it’s coming to an end. We’ll be blue by 2030.

I do love Salado.

Would be there if not for my kid.

You’d like me as your neighbor.

I know I would.

I don’t want to pretend like the politics of Temple work for Austin or California. They don’t. The issue is when you come to Temple and think Austin or California politics work here.

We almost moved to Salado or Lake Belton a few years back but we remodeled in Temple Historic district instead. Based on property taxes, I did the right thing. We increased 8% on a house undervalued by 200%. Most of my friends on the lake had 30~100% increases.

How would the commute be from Kyle or Buda up to the Domain? Looks like 30 minutes no traffic. So an hour during rush hour? From what I can tell they do have remote so I could probably handle that one or twice a week.

I think they were just hypothesizing about Austin in general. Cedar Park/Leander, Liberty Hill or Lake Travis are your best bets.

We have seriously thought about selling and getting a little further from the insanity, but we’re gonna wait until the kid is out oh HS in six years, so we have some time.

That said, I’m looking for some property with a decent structure on it relatively close to where we are, and Bell has popped up a couple of times, so not out of the question that we might find a getaway place there.

You might look at Troy as well. A lot of people are headed there. Little less artsy than Salado but an incredibly conservative community.

I'm hunting in Austin as well, though we're trying to stay in Austin proper. Prices seem to be crazy everywhere and while they aren't going down they seem to be flattening out.

For reference, our budget is $725k and we have been beaten multiple times on offers that went as high as $175k over asking.

I’ve been looking at belton near the lakes since 2020. Lots of good pieces of land for very little.

I’ll probably never do it though, until I can retire at least because of kids, similar to your situation.
