Attorney Kwame Asante and lead plaintiff Bob Applegate have announced the first public meeting regarding a class action lawsuit they filed earlier this month over flooding concerns in north Baton Rouge.
quote:
More than 50 residents have joined the lawsuit, which alleges the city failed to turn on drainage valves under Winbourne Avenue after crews completed a project on the roadway that was started in early 2016. They believe that led to increased flooding during the historic rain event.

Bob is a fricking troll.
However, They have a solid case if this is found to be BECAUSE the Comite diversion that was "funded as frick" for years by taxpayers yet never built.
This is all they have to show for it in 20 years.

Except that's not what they're suing over

This isn't ? WTF. I thought it was a given 'they'(most of northern Baton Rouge including Greenwell Springs area) were going to sue over. It was a big deal shortly after the food.
I recall some % tossed around that The Corps of Engineers acknowledged would have been reduced by the diversion had it been completed on time 15 years ago.
Anyhoots. This is interesting. Drainage Valves huh?

Yeah, I'm sure they're probably going after that because it's localized to NBR residents (future political capital) and they probably think they have some folks in the city who would happily settle out of court and give a ton of money to their targeted constituency (more future political capital). This is about a free money giveaway to buy loyalty to the Democrats of BR and LA.
