Take heart. If this was La. it would take 51 months:
2 years of surveys
3 months to bid
2 years to build

And it would still be shitty.

My civil engineer buddy said they did an emergency project of two spans and a bridge deck in 21 days. So the two factors are concrete drying times and how much bonus money the city wants to pay.

I live about a mile from there and every road surrounding my neighborhood is gridlocked with cars trying to find alternate routes. The thought of this cluster lasting for months is pretty daunting to be honest.

Well the good news is that you want the first couple days to be a cluster so that the city will hopefully pay big money to have it done asap.

I had no issues at all, but I use N.Druid and clairmont for the most part. I feel for those who work in midtown.

I am confident they'll get the road fixed quickly. Atlanta was the first place I'd ever seen nighttime road work to avoid extra traffic problems (1987). I was amazed. Up till that point I'd only lived in La. The concept had never occurred to them

As a former ATL / Sandy Springs resident right near 285/GA-400 -- with Midtown and Downtown work sites -- I've been watching that map all day. Much more green than I would have thought. I think WSB and the rest of the media immediately started making such a big deal about it that more folks stayed home than expected.

Meanwhile, Baton Rouge's Google Maps shows the normal full field of red, and our bridges are all allegedly extant and working.

My commute home was great today. But I'm on westside and half of Cobb is already at the beach.

Several of my customers who do DOT jobs were put into full throttle last night. DOT won't do this in house I don't think. It will be a Brasfield & Gorrie or Archer Western type who can design build and complete on a fast track. I know you wouldn't want to disclose but I am interested in who you work for. Whoever does it is going to be paid very well.

We use WR Grace admixtures. The company I used to work for for 14 years used Master Builders/BASF.

The once great 85 is a mess. It's a total disaster. We are going to make 85 great again, and Mexico is going to pay for it. #M85GA

First degree arson and he smoked crack before starting the fire. Do I win a prize?
