Why the hell does the process take this long?
Because pretty much every Cobb County resident called for jury duty for this case told the judge they hoped he rots in hell.

One expert was saying that the way memory works is, the chances of forgetting a child, is the same as forgetting your cell phone.
As a father, I say: bullshite
I have had heart stopping moments where one of the kids ran into another room at my house and for a few seconds I didnt know where he was. Same kid took my phone and put in a cabinet that we didnt find for two days. My heart never missed a beat.

I'm so fricking tired of hearing shite like "they'll have to live with this the rest of their life" or "I can't imagine how sad the parents must feel."
People that do this shite should be held criminally responsible.

I'm also tired of hearing that it's understood how something like this could happen. frick that!
Your children should be the center of your life. Everything you do in life should be for your kids. You know how your heart used to skip a beat when your first love walked in the room for the first time everyday? That should now happen when you see your kids for the first time. That is not being just a good parent, that is how you should be - period. If it's not like that with your kids, then maybe I could pretend to understand how somebody could forget. Either that or on dope. In any case, a terrible excuse for a parent.

I developed an OCD habit of checking the carseat in the back seat of my car to make sure I had not left them in there.
I made it a habit to start putting my bag, etc in the back seat, that way I had no choice but to open the back door(s).

I want to know how the hell ya'll get kids that are this quiet.
My daughter talks the entire way to school every morning. No way I'm leaving her in the car.

I very rarely take my son to daycare because of what time I have to be at the office everyday, so my wife takes him 99.9% of the time. Two weeks ago she had to go out of town for work so I took him to daycare for the week. I made sure I had my bag in the back seat and my mirror was adjusted so anytime I looked in the rear view mirror, I was looking at the mirror on the head rest that overlooks his car seat. I still double and triple checked on my ride to the office even though I knew for sure I had dropped him off.

Opening statements for the trial are underway. I got wrapped up in this case and am following along via Facebook. An Atlanta news outlet has even created a website just for the trial. Based on opening statements from prosecution, this guy is screwed. Having online affairs with multiple teenaged girls.

I'm sure this is an unpopular opinion here, but putting these parents in jail for a year, or whatever the standard for extreme negligence, does nothing and should be avoided. The parents punish themselves more than the law could I'm sure.

Have you even read up on this case? It's more than that. This dude was trying to get rid of his son while he lead a double life--hitting up little girls online and falling in love with them.

Probably true. But what charge? I've known two people to do this. One was a brand new mom in nursing school. She was running late for a test and just behind. Fortunately she parked in the shade in October and the child was seen after about 20-30 minutes. that poor girl was all kind of fricked up.
The second I knew through 2-3 degrees of separation. But heard from people there. She was a nurse or tech who (again) was running late for her shift, and routine was thrown. Father usually brought child to daycare. Mom had to do it this day. She did an entire 7a-3p shift and went outside to find the child. She ran into the ER SCREAMING "He's in rigor!! He's in rigor!!"and holding her stiff baby! It was absolutely horrible for all that were there.
Living is now hell on Earth for this woman. Prison? It's like backing over a child in the driveway?

Dang before y'all comment, at least read up on this particular case. Very, very unlikely that this was one of those kinds of accidents.

Fair enough.
I'm not reading a 700 page and 2 year old thread. I assume this is the guy who people believe did this on purpose? Thats why the thread still lives? that's still gonna be hard to prove. I feel that some people are probably calling for a mandatory murder charge for all people guilty of this.

And he drove several miles from work (where it's a quiet parking lot) to a heavily trafficked outdoor strip mall parking lot before figuring out the baby was dead. It was there that he has his meltdown, for all the many people to see.
The baby had been dead for hours and there's no way he didn't immediately notice by the smell as soon as he got into the car. But he had to make sure people saw his hysterics. Not to mention when the wife went to pick the baby up, daycare said he never came in today and her first reply was something like I wonder if he left him in the car. Just a weird thing to say.
