What really sucks is how bad some late model cars are at negotiating these rough roads. My Suburban rides like shite over bad roads. My 69 Chrysler 300, which is admittedly a land barge, floats over these rough roads.

I had a guy borrow the car for a wedding. He picked up the car and drove it to the wedding venue (over some shite roads). He called me when he arrived at the venue and said "damn, that is the smoothest ride of any car I've ever been in."

So the question is: Fifty years later, why can't they make a car that rides smoothly over this bad roads?

I'll add a rant:

You're on a four lane highway. The right lane of the two southbound lanes is terrible - very beat up. The left lane is noticeably better. So, a lot of people drive in the left lane to avoid the rough spots.

But, when you come up behind them, they don't move over to the right to let you pass. The force you to drive on the shite lane to ;pass.

frick that ... your car is too great to drive in the rough right lane so you make me drive it?

I know in Chicago you can submit claims and get money for it. Not sure how many claims get paid and how quickly it happens, but you can try.

You can in Louisiana too. I'm not sure if its parish, city, or state but a guy I work with was reimbursed for 2 tires and one rim after he hit a huge pothole and both tires on one side blew out and one rim cracked. He was mad he couldn't get reimbursed for 4 new tires but I was surprised he got anything at all.

As I understand it from my having no actual legal experience, where I live if you want to think about getting any sort of reimbursement for repairs you first need to prove that the responsible jurisdiction was aware of the condition of that street and the specific spot that you received the damage. If there are representatives of that jurisdiction working in the area, that would suffice to meet the notification process. Absent that, you would need to be able to prove someone else reported it.

Then it's thank you for the extra paperwork, we'll put it on the stack

My post below was from 2 friends that filed claims against the City of Kenner. One was denied (1 tire damaged), the other had 2 tires and a rim replaced....same pot hole.

Yes, South Carolina may reimburse you for tire damage caused by a pothole in a state-maintained road if you file a claim with the South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT):

I think in NOLA you can submit for reimbursement if your car was damaged by a reported hazard that hasn't been fixed yet.

I've never actually done it, and I'm sure the hassle and length of time it takes isn't worth it though.

Try Pittsburgh in the spring after all of the freeze/thaw cycles.
