I used to wake up every day and be groggy as hell, slowly waking up mentally while my body was screaming at me to get the day started.

Now I wake up every day and my eyes snap open. In mentally 100% after 10 seconds. But my body is slow. It's stiff. It aches. I have to soak in a jet tub to loosen back up. After an hour, I feel immortal all over again.

But where as before I didn't slow down until 24-36 hours awake....and even then I could fight through it. Now I'm dragging 18 hours in. I can't hold my eyes open. I get fatigued and grumpy.

Barely in my 30s.

I went to the mall and was chatting up a PYT sales lady. She laughed and said "You sound just like my father".

This past weekend. I had to tear down and rebuild an 8' section of my privacy fance. I had to carry the 2x4s, pickets, and tools about 50 yards. My arse had to take 5 to catch my breath. First time that's happened in my 41 years of life.

I could say a number of things, such as

1) when I started getting AARP mail (I'll be 50 in August)
2) when I became a Pow Pow three years ago (& another grand on the way!)
3) when I started having to clip grey hair out of the inside of my ears
4) when my beard turned grey
5) when I realized JFK, Clinton, & Obama were all younger than I am when they were first elected
6) when the last of my high school coaches died last year.

However, I don't feel old at all. Been married 27 years to the best woman I've ever known, have three wonderful grown children, & like I said, 2nd grand due in December. Have a great job, a home and 5 vehicles that are paid off, and a quiver full of great friends.

Oh, & LSU IS HEADED TO OMAHA!!

I'm 50 and just everything makes me feel old. Gray hair, little more weight( working out but my energy level sucks) young women look at me like they look at their dad. I used to play full court basketball until my early forties then my knees went out , I could dunk. A basketball all the way into my mid thirties ( I'm 6'4") .... I probably couldn't touch the net now.................. "........

The last couple of years, when the new engineers at work looked like 12 year olds and I realized they are the same age as my kids.

I remember the exact moment:

Chose sleep over sex for the first time in my life.

It had been a grueling stretch of days and nights at work. Still. Even in the fog of my weariness, I remember thinking to myself, "WTF has happened to me?!?!?"

Same here.

Used to be that after 24-30 hours of inhouse call, an hour nap plus a big cup of coffee and I was good to go.

Now if I don't get at least 6 hours of sleep, the first thing I think when my alarm goes off in the morning is "only X hours until i get to go back to sleep."

Actually the first thing I think is "frick" but you know what I mean.
