You did absolutely the right thing in calling 911. However, it's not necessary for everyone in the bar with a cell phone to call 911 (not saying that happened in your case but in general).

It's better to call 911 if your not sure than to not call. However, there are things to consider. Make sure you know where you are. 911 can't track cell phones. They can get within a certain general area sometimes, but be able to tell them where you are. Listen to what they tell you and follow their instructions. Don't keep yelling "Just send somebody!" They already have- the 911 operator isn't the one coming, but they still have questions to ask and instructions to give.

It all depends on what state you live in. Because everyone is sue happy. Pretend you didn’t call, he isn’t doing well, eventually gets up, ask for you name, then bam a week later you are subpoenaed. It’s like the people who sue the strangers who give them CPR when they’re unconscious. Yeah your ribs may have a break, but your alive aren’t ya? They will turn around and sue them for break their rib. Like that guy, he would have probably sued the bar if things got way worse and he barely lived. So always call, always. It’s not like your going to have to pay for the ambulance fee and it insures you don’t have a dead guy on your conscious.
