a few relatives and I were heading south from Ellik to BR on Hwy 71 one Sunday when we stopped at a little ice cream stand somewhere along the way. we got out of the car and there in line to get some ice cream stood 6 or so wrestlers from back in the mid south wrestling days (i.e. the Junk Yard Dog, Ernie Ladd, Dusty Rhodes, Jake the snake Roberts, Hacksaw Jim Duggan, etc.). I was about 9 or so, and just couldn't believe that the good guys and the bad guys were being nice to one another...
by the time we got to BR, I had figured out that this couldn't possibly be real. I was pretty disappointed about this for a few weeks.

Didn't even start watching it until I was a teenager, and I already knew it was scripted. It's the male version of a soap opera.
Doesn't take much as a teenager to figure out it's fake, if you pay attention. Things like "unsanctioned matches" wouldn't have space on the card if that were the case. They would just happen. Oh, and everytime something happened, a camera just happened to be there? Hmmm.
At least back then they didn't have frick ups like a Security Guard trying to stop Gronk from interfering in a match, only to be told by the refs that it's part of the show. Lmao!

Lol at the anti-wrestling goons. There's plenty of shite I don't enjoy in the realm of entertainment but I don't ever feel the need to belittle those that do enjoy it. It does really show how ignorant they are when they chime in.
