I disagree. Data is data and continuing to search outside of our solar system, both near and far, helps the astronomy community continue to grow and learn, continues to improve our collective knowledge, and continues to confirm our laws of physics.
Will we ever go that far away? No, obviously not. Doesn't mean the data isn't useful.
