I don't think that claim is useless. Quite a few US citizens have spent time in Mexican jails for inadvertently having small caliber ammo in their vehicles while crossing into Mexico.

I always figured that was a backhanded selling point. Probably only mentioned that particular issue to peak interest.

this happened to an older guy I knew. He called his doctor. Doctor told him to go jogging!
