The lights don't know even use that much power. You need to be more concerned with your A/C running.

you are right i dont know anythng about what you do for a living but if you are constantly pissed off because lights are left on...that cost maybe $10 a month max if left on all the time....yea you got financial issues or you just like to get irrationally mad for no reason.

I'm getting one of those lockboxes to put over my thermostat. I ain't having that shite.
I got an Amazon Alexa thermostat... it's voice-controlled but everybody else in the house is annoyed trying to use it that way... basically because they don't understand how a thermostat or AC works... "Alexa... I'm hot! turn up the Air Conditioner!" "I'm sorry, I don't know what that means."
otherwise, it's controlled by my phone/iPad/computer... so I'm the only one who controls it. It's set to a range of 68-72 degrees (which is very comfortable in this house year round) BUT the fan is set to "circulate," where it comes on intermittently to move air around the house to make sure hot or cool air isn't building up in certain rooms, and that makes a big difference,
When the wife does something outside then comes in and says "can you set the AC to, like, 60 degrees? I'm hot!" I actually just turn the fan on for a bit and she thinks it's the AC...

How about when you’re trying to find a location you’ve never been to before and you turn down the radio to better focus?? I would always give me dad shite for that as a kid and then I did it! Mind blown
That's mental concentration... the radio is akin to someone talking to you about something random when you're trying to focus on something...
My wife prefers to listen to podcasts on trips instead of music... that actually starts driving me nuts... I don't want to hear endless talking for hours... my habit of listening to entire albums seems to drive her nuts. My habot of listening to entire songs instead of just 20 second clips drive the kid nuts (tik tok has destroyed the kids)

Leaving a LED bulb on all the time costs nearly nothing over the course of a lifetime. There are numerous studies that indicate a well lit house uses less energy than a dark house because they "feel" more comfortable at more moderate temperatures to the occupants. I hate light switches. First of all light is the most amazing shite ever....considering we've only had about a 10th of a second of our existence as a species where we had a source of light other than the sun it staggers the imagination that people will sit in dim houses over a few bucks a month. I tried to explain this to my father once...he was not usually violent but that was the rare exception....
I have to fight around my house to keep the lights on. My kids LOVE the dark, fricking vampires, and my wife's dad must have been a tyrant over lights because she can't stand a light being on if it is not needed.

Makes me irrationally angry.
You have to be a real bitch of a dad when you're complaining about something that will cost you $.06 if left on for 10 hours straight.

My wife and I are wont to have "marital discussions" (known as arguments in some circles). Some of the more interesting ones involved turning the AC down because it is too cold. I love her to death but logic and reason are not her strongest qualities....
I got a call one day from a lady on base who said someone had given her my number because I was in charge of the wind turbines. I was indeed in a round a bout way, at least the POC if someone from outside the engineering department had questions about them. I told her I was indeed the person she was looking for....and she said :"its hot outside....can you turn them on so my kids can get out of the house?".
I flat footed told her "Yes ma'am...it'll take about 17 minutes (I had the schedule in front of me at the time doing a load calc)." She thanked me and sure enough in 17 minutes three turbines started turning.
Fast forward a few months and my wife and I are at the officers club. I hear a woman say "Its too hot to go out side". Her companion replied "I have a number you can call and the nicest man on base will turn the wind turbines on for you". Again, reason and logic not what is endearing about the fairer sex.....
