The title says "SAT scores founder"
It should say flounder...your reading comprehension skills would get you an A at these schools too
From Merriam-Webster
quote:
Definition of founder
foundered; founderingplay \'fau?n-d(?-)ri?\
intransitive verb
1: to become disabled; especially : to go lame
2: to give way : collapse
3: to become submerged : sink
4: to come to grief : fail
You should really know about the words your talking about before trying ridiculing someone for the use of said word.

The USA Today author just used a bad word, we should agree on this.
From the article
The scores dropped 2%, does that sound like a "founder"
Does not matter if "person who manufactures articles of cast metal" or "member of flatfish species" is correct. Author needs to have better headlines.

I think it is supposed to be a joke. The SAT is big on vocabulary.

Millions of kids take the test every year. A 24 point drop is statistically significant.

That might be a little dramatic, let's dive into the problem

One guy trying to save face and failing miserably, and a bunch of dudes pretending they had any knowledge of "founder" as a verb piling on that guy

Pretty much spot on, lot's of googling has happened here.
I was happy to learn, my people are not the problem. I am pretty sure this is an issue caused by Democrats though.
