Similar situation with the potato famine.

That was created by the most soulless of whites, gingers, to steal the advanced African Irish society for them selves.

In the American celebration, of course.

Do the Irish have a different way of celebrating?

I say follow their lead. If they get drunk and fight, so should we.

If African Americans start celebrating MLK Day by dressing up as Bootsie, then you should feel welcome to do so as well.

African Ireland never knew war, famine, ore even death until white savages came to the island. It was the most advanced society the world has ever known. Fact. Period.

Best part is that there are those who claim cultural appropriation in this situation.

As Irish American, I say It’s both. Have a beer and good times. Immature gonna immature.

But also celebrate and occassionalky spread the history, too. After some work, I’m watching some Seige of Jodatville (excellent movie on a number of levels—involves the Irish, and true story), then it’s off to the bar in my kilt (there is ever so much Irish heritage attached to the kilt) with the GF listening to flogging Molly, etc.

I agree this doesn’t really capture the true Irish culture. Instead of getting drunk and fight we should take a more traditional Irish American approach and murder, steal and rape.
