It (booze) really does exacerbate these issues if not causes them outright.

My consumption has drastically declined and it’s amazing how “sick” you feel drinking consistently. And I don’t mean getting drunk.....just a couple/three per night.

Yeah, the high of taking the edge off at night is outweighed by the depression and anxiety I feel otherwise. I've noticed if I can just get through a week or so without booze, I feel a lot more upbeat.

It's a natural process. When you realize that you have more days behind you than in front of you, you began to see the world differently. I deal with this daily. You realize that you have worked so hard to be successful, being married to your job at the same time sacrificing things that are truly important. The money, nice home and vehicles that you earned are becoming meaningless, as compared to the adventure, travel, peace, you now crave. You realize how fleeting your life is. You worry about your parents health, your children's health, and your own health. You want to do so much in life and realize you don't have many good years, in which you will be healthy enough to do it. It's a somber feeling.

These should help!
Joey called!
Reach out and touch someone

I was the way you are when I had to take Prednisone.

ETA: On a serious note, I nearly died in October of 2010. Since then, different things are important to me. The weirdest thing to come from my experience is my being able to spell. Before I nearly died, I regularly misspelled lots of words. Don't do that nearly as often since 2010.

One of the best first posts I've ever read. I'm 60 now, so I completely understand this thinking.
