The immediate issue with mixing Xanax with high levels of alcohol is they will just stop breathing since Xanax depresses the nervous system.

I've seen the Xanax and alcohol combo before. I had to throw best friends and roommates in different cars that were fighting each other. They managed to get a few punches and hair pulling and scratching in. Both had missing finger nails and we're bloody from scratches. I drove one of their cars back to their house with a friend to watch one of them and another girl drive the other. It was crazy. I went to see my girl friend that was their roomie the next day and they were talking like nothing happened. They didn't remember anything and neither drank a whole lot that night. It was the Xanax. I was 19 and to this day I have never taken one and I tell this story any time I here some kind of story involving alcohol and Xanax.

It is a terrible combo even if you just have a six pack. One of them is a nurse now. She did a 180. The other not so much for a while but I think she managed to get a job as a RE agent.

Dont mix pills and alcohol.

Why is anyone even talking about a pill combo? There's no evidence of that and regardless a .451 BAC is more than enough to kill somebody.

Bc someone posted the girlfriend killed herself bc people blamed her for killing him when she gave him Xanax (allegedly). That poster then said high doses of Xanax make people do dangerous things to themselves - 1st insinuating the GF took high doses of Xanax, then blaming her high dose intake for her suicide.

.451 BAC is absolutely enough to kill him alone. No need to post rumors blaming his dead girlfriend who may or may not have given him Xanax when his BAC was that high.

My sister in law is neighbors with the family of the girl who committed suicide ... she told me that the guy got dumped at her house and she just flipped out and felt it was her fault that she couldn't help him other than call 911.

Seems like something is missing ... but law suit is incoming.

He definitely hazed them but the kid went to the hospital because of Xanax that the girl forced him to take after he was already blackout. The Xanax is what almost killed him.

Yeah, definitely has nothing to do with his .451 blood alcohol level.

Why do papers continue to put comments like this in when the person wasn't driving?

I don’t even understand why people take Xanax and other hardcore drugs. Why do people have to do more than smoking weed? At the very least it’s probably the safest drug to mix with alcohol, not saying you should mix weed and alcohol, but still

Pretty sure it was the alcohol that was 6 times the legal limit that was the problem.

If only the police would’ve arrested him when he got above .08

Nobody is going to defend this. My question is how many people knew what was going on. Of the thousands of Greeks that come put of LSU the bast majority have no experience with anything close to this

It is entirely possible. I've seen alcoholics with it that high and still be able to talk to you. Sad.

There's definitely a lot missing from this story and I have to imagine her parents are some kind of pissed off and demanding answers. Lawsuit definitely seems highly likely. Every fraternity is required to carry liability insurance. I can't imagine what the premiums are now. When I was in school in the mid 90s, we had to pay our risk management premiums every year to our national fraternity office. But that's just to cover the national office's arse. You're on your own for your actions.

Seems like these egregious incidents usually come from new and/or try hard chapters in some kind of misguided attempt to build a reputation.

Not really sure what to make of it. Some of the actives j jeep in touch with feel strongly about forcing someone to drink. I think that tmessage is solid with my chapter. I feel the need to focus on them keeping an eye out, knowing when to step in for someone to call it a night, and to be ok with seeking medical help. The university strikes too much fear in them. They need to also adopt the message of it being ok to seek medical help.

It just makes me sleep. People that do cocaine like to have some to come down and go to sleep after a cocaine binge. Supposedly works to come down from acid as well.

But it's VERY popular with the younger set today for some reason.

Younger population seems to be very high anxiety. I can see Xanax being popular with that crowd. Say what you will but Xanax is very, very good for anxiety and relaxation.
