I'd like a good timeline on recent events and how we got to this point.
Finally.
If it's him for sure, I hope he pays the ultimate price

Indiana, I think, is pretty weak on the death penalty.

Richard Allen, the Indiana man recently charged with murder in the 2017 Delphi murders of two young girls, was involved in a "domestic" incident with his wife two years prior in 2015, according to local reports.

Deputies responded to the incident around 3 a.m. on June 18, 2015, to "keep the peace," according to a report obtained by FOX59 Indianapolis.

His wife apparently said Allen was drunk at the time, and she took him to a nearby hospital to be evaluated, the outlet reported.

So an unspent .40 caliber pistol round found between girls’ bodies, which was traced back to Richard Allen’s gun. And one of the girls mentioned gun as BG approached in the unreleased audio recording.

An unspent round means it was never fired? If so, how does it have the matching markings if it never went through the chamber?

There are marks on the casing of it being cycled through the weapon (extraction marks).

That plus all of the circumstantial evidence of him being the only male adult seen on the trail around the time of the murders. Him admitting to wearing clothing that matched the bridge guy from the video. Him admitting to parking his vehicle at the old CPS building, and someone seeing a muddy/bloody male walking along CR 300 towards where he vehicle was parked.

The crazy thing, is that if he never came forward and spoke to investigators, admitting that he was on the trail at the time, he would've most likely never been caught.

Its still tons of circumstantial evidence and I'm a little surprised they didn't mention how the murders were actually committed. That said I'm sure (at least I hope) they have much more tying him to the crime)

I still feel like a good defense attorney can argue reasonable doubt since nothing in the PCA mentions anything about the actual murders. Maybe he fired his gun a previous time in those woods? I don't know. Also those witness descriptions can describe a number of white middle aged fat dudes in the Midwest. Did any of them specifically finger Allen as the guy they saw?

I think the most likely case is he used the gun to control the girls then murdered them with a knife. Either he cleared out the chamber and dropped the bullet without seeing it, or he was just stupid.

Search warrant returns for the search of his house and yard haven’t been released. It’s very possible there is more evidence than just the ammo.

That even the expert admitted was subjective. He obviously did it, but if what we read is their whole case, it seems mighty weak. I’m sure the standards are significantly lower for a probable cause arrest warrant than a conviction, but even that seems weak.

I hope they have much more than this. Vague witness descriptions that are typically unreliable and a subjective shell casing match doesn’t seem like a whole lot to take to trial. The worst thing they can do is know it’s him, but rush to trial without enough evidence, and have him acquitted.

Honestly I was expecting much more from it, hopefully this isn’t nearly their whole case. I really thought there were some Kegan ties there, maybe there are and they didn’t want to show that yet? How do you get a search warrant for his house/gun just based upon the fact that he may have been the only adult male out on the trail?
