I was doing some ironing, oddly enough. And planning a wedding, my own. I was shocked and couldn't stop watching the TV for updates. Not as impressed with her or her offspring all of these years later.

I think I was sitting on the couch at a friend’s house of my bf at the time. We had been hanging out drinking and watched the reports on the news.

This is so weird to me because it’s a vivid memory for some reason, but I remember I was watching The Pretender on NBC with my dad when the special report came on. I remember it raining a lot that evening too, and I was just 9 when it happened.

They didn’t show Saturday Night Live that night.
As a 12 year old it was devastating.

IIRC Mother Theresa died a couple weeks later. The priest at our church went on and on about Diana and never even mentioned Mother Theresa. I stopped all donations to that parish that day.

I stayed up most of the night for updates. Stayed up all night when she got married, stayed up all night when she died.

I knew more of her shite than I did of close friends and family. Diana was a trailblazer in the whole “Im fricked up, and love me for it” movement. She was the first public figure to publicly embrace her serious mental problems and demand they be celebrated.
