COOLIDGE, AZ — Coolidge police arrested a man who claimed he had been kidnapped near 1st Street and Northern Avenue in Coolidge to get out of work.
The Casa Grande Dispatch reported at around 5:25 p.m. on Feb.10 that police say they found 19-year-old Brandon Soules near a water tower with his hands bound behind his back and a bandana stuffed in his mouth.

Soules told police he was kidnapped by two masked men. He says the men knocked him unconscious and drove him around in a vehicle before leaving him by a water tower.
Coolidge detectives conducted an investigation that found no evidence that a kidnapping or assault had occurred. Officers say when they looked at surveillance video to corroborate his story of him being hit over the head and stuffed in his car in front of his home, they saw no signs of any of his story being true.
He also alleged the kidnapping occurred because of a large amount of money his father had hidden around town, which was also fabricated.
He was arrested on Feb. 17 for false reporting to police.
Officers say Soules admitted that he made up the story as an excuse to get out of work during an interview.
Full article at link. And it's hilarious.
No word yet on if there's any relation to Jussie Smollet.

Props to that guy for creativity anyway.
Wasting police resources and time gives him a point off though.

people will work harder at getting out of work than if they actually worked.

Instead of firing him, his employer should punish him by making him attend a corporate retreat...something sorta nice...but he’s locked into a conference hall somewhere deep inside with no window and an MBA prattling on about “synergy” and “teamwork.” That’ll teach him.

Laying on the ground outside tied up doesn’t seem like more fun or more relaxing than going to work and getting laid

All he had to do was stick to his story.

I bet he's a hard worker when he does show up, though.

Has he ever heard of calling in?

I remember when some dumb figgit called in a bomb threat at a manufacturing facility I worked at because he didn't want to go to work. Circa 2007 I think. Joke was on him because they made everyone stay until they traced the phone call to a cell phone that was in the building when the call was made. He not only got arrested and fired a few days later when the records were officially turned over to the police, but had to sit there and sweat it out while the rest of us got a stress free extended break waiting on the cops w/ dogs to clear the building.
