I've done compressions on babies, children, and adults alike. Ido if I ever had to work a teenager code, but almost every other age group I've worked.
Children it's kind of surreal but (if your worth your salt) you don't even process the situation. You just do what your trained to do.

Like 30 compressions then 2 breaths
I do think it has changed a lot since I learned...seemed like it was 8-10 per breath

It's changed a lot in the last few years. Like others said...focus is now on doing effective compressions...and getting an AED on the person ASAP.
Next time you are out in public...take note of where you see AEDs at. They have made AEDs soooo easy for the general public to use. You basically just have to know how to put the pads on the person in the correct position and make sure the pads are properly plugged into the AED and turn it on.
Last time I went hiking...noticed they even had AEDs in the bathrooms at the trailhead.

Sounds like they should have an app for that.

I was for an extended ammount of time. And it seemed every year they would change the compression:breath ratio. I always found that odd.

It's called clinical research

Yep. I have to be CPR, AED, and first aid trained for work.

Is the ratio the same for infants?

It's changed because of research they have done. Research shows that compressions matter more...so they change it to reflect that.
Honestly though....if you are the only one who is at the scene that knows CPR...but you are confused about the correct ratio..does it really matter? As long as you know how to do good compressions and know how to do rescue breaths....at least you are doing something. Again...make sure 911 is activated right away or someone else is running to grab an AED.

It was 15:2 the first time I took the class in 2001. It changes so much that I don't think it really matters.

BLS, ACLS, PALS. Let's do this!
Posted on 5/17/16 at 8:51 am to TechDawg2007
I am but I don't see the reason they keep changing the certification and why it expires so frequently.

Yes 30:2 for infant, child and adult.

There are laws that protect you from this.

That's weird. 30:2 was what the instructor taught us and that was over 4 years ago
Posted on 5/17/16 at 8:54 am to TechDawg2007
We have to get certified every 2 years for work.
