In 49 out of 50 states this is false unless you are a professional.

ETA: Why the down vote? I don't live in Vermont.

I am an instructor, and teach the class fairly regularly. (I actually teach 5 or 6 different types).

You are absolutely incorrect. The only time you can be considered "negligent" is if it is directly in your scope of work, as in, a lifeguard/doctor/EMT on duty.

Certifications only last two years right? I think I need to go get recertified.

For the ARC or AHA, yes two years from the date of the course completion.

Now I'm gonna have "another one bites the dust" in my head all day cause of this thread

Every single BLS course I've taken has played that song while having us do compressions.

You can also be considered negligent if you start CPR and then stop/pause for whatever reason.

I'm CPR certified and will also be very selective of who I perform it on.

Just don't sing it out loud when saving someone.

ETA: I use "staying alive"

Incorrect. You are refereeing to "abandonment" and that is not true, as there are many reasons to stop (too tired to continue, scene becomes unsafe, another person takes over, etc.).

The only time this is applicable is if you start CPR, and your shift ends and you just leave.

People, Good Samaritan laws will protect you. My goodness I can't believe what I am reading....

Crazy Bitch - Buck Cherry
Work It - Missy Elliot
Shoop - Salt n Peppa
I Want It That Way - Backstreet Boys

I've heard that one as well in BLS classes.

I've been meaning to take a CPR course for some time now, but just haven't gotten around to it. Where's the best place to take one in Baton Rouge?
