So an introvert only consults himself or a small number of people when coping with his problems and doesn't really publicize it, while an extrovert likes to tell everyone his problem and solves it out loud and with the help of others, rather than himself.

I'm not saying this isn't true - just as it is far common for extroverts to be salesmen and introverts to be analysts, but this is a side effect of the energy equation.

Like the old joke about the Extrovert and Introvert having a meeting - the Extrovert comes out of the meeting not knowing anything more than he knew going in, but feels better about it. The introvert leaves feeling drained but is now the only person with all the information needed to solve the problem.

It's cool and edgy to be an introvert. Check any dating website.

I don't admit to girls I'm actually an introvert.

Truth is sometimes, often times, I prefer to lie in bed in my underwear and drink beer and watch fishing shows than hang out with a girl. I love having a girl over, but the hanging out every night grows old really quick.

Me: "can't tonight, work stuff"
Also me: *takes off pants and cracks a beer*

The fact that everyone is along the spectrum is true. Some folks are decidedly one way or another - that's undeniable.

I'm an introvert and a lot of my work requires personal interaction. It's exhausting.

Ya, but that's the age-old problem for an introvert:

"I want poon, but I have to be social to get it. Damnit!"

Centinel, I didn't mean to "out" you. But still, you picked an awkward place to confess.

Extreme extrovert, but I love being alone. If that makes sense. I flourish in social settings meaning I can talk to anyone about anything and have a smile on my face while doing it, but deep down prefer to just chill on my couch with my dog watching HBO. I secretly can't stand most people.

Did we just become best friends?

This is me exactly - so I get it. Except switch HBO to ESPN.

uh, so youre an introvert then

Am I though?

The definition of introvert is "a shy, reticent person".

I am the furthest thing from shy imaginable and not reticent at all. In fact, I have been told by my wife I was born without a filter.

I'd just secretly rather hang out with my dog than people. Most people, outside of my wife, would never know that though.

I am both. It depends on the situation. When I was younger I was more of an extrovert, but now, while there are times when I enjoy being around others and meeting new people, when I am alone I can do things at my own pace and keep myself occupied. There are times when I am around people I can sort of be on my own.

And I don't like unannounced visits. If I am doing something and I am to myself, if someone just pops in, its like it throws me off..

I was an extrovert, but now I'm and introvert. I would love nothing more than being alone all day. A phone call or two a day with my best friend would suffice and I'd be gravy.

I think internally. I can't think externally.

But I can behave like an extrovert if need be.

FWIW, I've done the Briggs Meyers thing several times and I'm always an ENTJ.

Also, did True Colors twice and I'm mostly Green and highly Orange and lowest value of Blue possible.

Um, pretty sure everybody is introverted for the first 9 months or so of life, and then we all become extroverted. I don't understand your question.

I'm an introvert, who does not feel out of place in social settings. However, I prefer eating alone versus with a group.

Definitely an introvert. I'm perfectly fine sitting in an awkward silence and will wait for someone else to talk first. I could also go days without being around other people and not feel lonely. That said, I am friendly in conversation and don't mind talking to people about things we have mutual interest in
