I think he does have superiority complex, but that or an inferiority complex is part of that equation as well.

I think most are just better at hiding it from their sound bites. You have to be pretty self obsessed to want to become an actor I the first place. Smith and Paltrow etc. have just decided to embrace their self love.

Don't get me wrong. Narcissism exists. I just don't think it's a clinical thing. I think it's just a descriptive word for a super arrogant douche. Any clinical designation that may lead to "mental health professionals" getting more legal power is just a lefty scheme.

I'll clarify - that is, at least arguably, mutually beneficial exploitation and manipulation. I am nice to clients, and they get a product. I am nice to bosses for good reviews and promotions, and they get productive and efficient work. Ditto when you're hooking up with someone...she gets the P, and you get the V.

Since I am on a The Americans binge, I was thinking more of exploitation in that direction...where you bed a potential source, get the information you need, and then let the KGB take her away and send her to Siberia for the rest of her life.

Agreed, which is why celebrities tend to test at least 3 points higher than the average person.

There's more to it. I don't think Robert Downey Jr is a huge narcissist, nor are Ben Affleck or Matt Damon. When you get into the thirties (which is certainly where those two stand), you really, really get to be full of yourself and become blissfully ignorant of the common man outside of yourself. Will may be still be aware of this slightly, but Paltrow doesn't have a clue how she sounds. Seriously, she encourages mothers who make 30k a year to go out and spend 1500 dollars on a bathroom rug. I don't even think Will Smith would have the balls to say something like that.

I honestly think it's the worst quality a person can have. Nothing causes you to look down more on others than that quality.

I seriously don't get the issue of a 30+ score being extreme.

I'm more surprised by the people scoring under 15. What's wrong with you people?

I'm vain and the only person I may look down upon is myself.
I'm my worst critic.

Couldn't take the test in my phone but took another one online & I was only at 18% of a narcissist.

I think scoring a 15-20 should be an absolute minimum as normal. If you score a 3 or 4 like a few in here, do you guys just sit behind a desk waiting for orders all day? Cover your mirrors with sheets?

I scored a 30 which I agree is a bit too high. Most of that is from scoring the max in "self-sufficiency" and pretty high in "authority", "exploitative", and "entitlement". The questions were worded so that you were either a follower or a leader.

Some of you narcissists are taking that Internet test way too seriously.

Well, Adam Carolla, a self professed narcissist, scored a 28, and if you listen to his podcast, you'd know he is absolutely a narcissist. And he's tied for second in highest ranking celebrity who has taken the test. Howard Stern scored a 15 for perspective.

Personally, I'd say 10-20 is pretty normal, but I do have to agree that having too low of narcissistic traits could be a bad thing as well. It kind of seems like it would make you be very easily pushed around.

And in some careers this would be a positive. If you were a stock broker or an Air Force Pilot, it would probably be a good thing that you have these traits.

I never thought of myself as a Narcissist, but the way the questions are asked you're either a follower or a leader and being a leader makes you a narcissist I guess.

But yes, I know these tests are very subjective

Being a narcissist doesn't make you a butthole, so long as you are self aware.
