To be honest, I believe we probably went there but I think that the footage that we've been shown is damn near 100% fake. Then, Wikileaks released the video of them filming it in the desert and it lended more evidence to my suspicions.

I can assure you that Joe and Kamala don’t give one damn about getting back up there nor do they care to show American excellence. If we get there, it will almost solely be done by Elon Musk.

Who cares? It's just some millennial nostalgic fetish.
Or saving the species. I don’t know if you’ve been watching the news lately, but I think now is as good of a time as ever for a species insurance policy.

Because we need to get back into space exploration. We stopped focusing on studying something bigger than us and look where that has gotten us the last 20 years.
Yeah, no shite. We need a unifying vision again, and I can’t think of anything but two things:
1) War (which is flirting with the destruction of our species)
2) Space (which is flirting with the salvation of our species)
I think one is clearly better than the other.

ETA: There has been so much that has come from space exploration in the past that we use today (technology wise). It's not just studying moon rocks and getting cool pictures.
The technology we use with micro processors and having the small size and lots of memory and processing power in our hands (our cell phones) - that came directly from NASA. They needed to shrink the size of a computer to be able to power a spacecraft and keep the weight and size down.
I'm sure there are tons of other scientific tidbits that came from space exploration that others could come up with.
I mean, there is a serious ROI on all that stuff.

If by “we” you mean China, then yes.

Spacex will likely be on mars by the time nasa is on the moon.
It will keep a number of defense aerospace contractors financially afloat VA and busy until then, though.

No "we" as in the USA. There is a poster who just gave proof for you in this very thread. But please keep believing the crackpot conspiracy theories.

At 27 trillion in debt and a newly elected group of democrats that just promised the moon to attain that power, I highly doubt it.
