Our local governments came out on Friday morning and told everyone to prepare/stock up with 14 days of food and supplies. 4 hours later I walked into a big box store and you could feel society/civilization had devolved a tick. Even in the parking lot people were "taking" and "giving nothing". I got smart and bought as if my teenagers' school would be closed so mass quantities of lunch and comfort food filled the cart.

I bought what was needed and left what wasn't instead of being a hoarding prick (75% of the people I saw.)

I don’t think we will have food shortages, but everyone is just worried about being stuck at home for a couple of weeks. Sort of like when there is a snow event in the south, but for a longer duration.

I do think some people buy up certain things because everyone else is buying that thing.

I’m screwed. Would have gone shopping yesterday just normally for the week. Places are crazy, everything is gone. Will these hoarders stay home now that they have a months supply so I can go get groceries sometime this week?

The authorities created a nationwide panic. It was irresponsible. It's not their responsibility to make sure that a million elderly and sick people don't die from a new strain of the flu. It is their responsibility NOT to incite panic.
