So in a school of mostly 14-17 year olds, half had sex. That percentage would decrease for each age group. Those of you saying every 15 year old girl fricks are crazy.

47% say they've had sex.

Probably only 20 to 30 percent (maybe less), but the parents of those that are will likely be the last to know.

Acceptable age for what?

For a girl to begin using pro-active methods for birth control.

Most 15 year olds are going to be sophomores it's pretty relevant to talk high schoolers as it's the world/culture they are operating in
The thread title literally says "15 year old daughter on birth control". It's not relevant to group ALL high-schoolers into the conversation (for the purposes of this thread).

Which in the boys locker room means 10% actually did. Let's not get into survey methods. The point remains.

I never met someone that said "damn I really wish I wasn't on BC cause I never bone"

I know of quite a few people that say "shite I should been on BC"

Better come prepared (pun intended)

Yea the point remains that a large percentage of HS students are engaging in sex, and the older they get, the more likely they are to have sex. The smart ones use protection, the dumb ones, or the ones who were never told anything different don't, and some of them end up with ruined lives.

I'm not even questioning that. All I'm saying is that those of you who think every 15 year old has sex, or even half of them, are wrong.

That's for the parents and family to decide, not me. I really haven't commented on BC usage at all. I responded to a post that 15 year olds are "going to have sex anyway" and now here we are 10 pages later.

You responded to the OP and said that it was

So if 15 year olds on birth control is "trashy" then when does it become not trashy?

So half of the 15 year olds in your community would state that they've had sex. This alone should make you reconsider your stance. I understand that you're saying all of this out of good intentions , but sometimes good intentions turn into bad situations.

I don't think anyone is saying that every, or even the majority of 15 year olds/HS sophomores are having sex. However, anyone who's gone through high school knows that most don't leave virgins.

Is it really necessary to distinguish between 15 year olds and 16/17 year olds when talking about practical and effective methods for birth control?

Half of all high schoolers. That's 47% of a rough age range of 14-18.....Not 47% of 15 year olds. And it's skewed higher to boys, I'm sure.

What if it's 1/3 or 1/4th, is this still not a staggering number that would make you consider protective measures?

I remember being a young man and telling my gf she needed to get on it by telling her parents it would regulate her periods. It worked. Not sure if they believed her or just knew her asking for it meant she was getting the D and decided it was best

I certainly think 16 year olds should be on protection.

Guilty as charged. I just did the standard OP 'trashy' response I guess. Disregard that part. Im usually good for some stupid off-base shite here and there. I stand by my parenting having SOME effect remarks.
