In most cases, it’s cheaper for a woman to stay home with her kids instead of sticking them in daycare. And most research points to a more stable kid if you are able to stay at home with them before school.
If a man is in a financially stable enough situation to have his wife stay at home during the kid’s early years then kudos to him. If she’s still a “stay at home mom” when they’re in middle/high school then that’s also on him.

Many times people who say this have no idea what they are talking about. I hear it all the time from parents with two kids in a regular daycare and a wife that brings in 40K. "Well, my wife is gonna stay home because it's a wash with the cost of daycare." No, it's not. Unless you have four kids under the age of 6 then your wife is just a lazy slob.

I've always wondered why the smartest girls in high school go for good, but not excellent careers. The four smartest guys from my HS are doctors or engineers. The four smartest girls are RNs, MTs or teachers - all good careers but not in the doctor/engineer class. Those girls were every bit as smart as the guys.

first off any man that demands his wife do what he wants is going to stay a bottom feeder. Why do you want a subject when you can get a partner that will help you take over the world.
So that said if my extremely intelligent strong willed wife wants to work as a yoga instructor and we can live comfortably doing it that's her choice.

A wife having a flexible job or at least a job she is out of work most of the time the kids are out is worth a lot both financially and time wise.
OP you clearly don't have kids. My wife worked 45 hours a week until our daughter was 3, and now she works part time consulting 2-3 days a week. Without that flexibility and additional time, we were flat never at home or never had time off. Between errands, getting things done like taking the car in for a repair, being home for repairmen, work trips, etc. you are just stretched very thin if both work over 40 hours.
