Backstory- 2 new pump units and a drawer slide set in 2 and a half years.

I would just get another brand, but all our appliances have cypress panels on them, so maybe I just have a lemon- would like to stay with a Kitchen Aid so I can reuse the panel.

Wondering if any other OT'ers have had this kind of trouble.

We've had one for a couple of years. I'm not impressed although it is quiet. If you don't run it every day, and we don't, it can get stinky.

shite. My Viking broke for the 3rd time & I decided to replace rather than repair again. I bought a Kitchenaid because of the great reviews (and made in USA ). I hope yours is an anomaly.

It drives me nuts- 2 years in, it leaked water- change the pump/motor assy. because the diverter valve was leaking.

Fast forward a few months, the bearing retainers in the drawer slides get brittle, change those.

Today, starts leaking again- same spot as before.

Before I throw good money after bad, wondering what experience you baws have had.

The kitchenaid with 2 sliding drawers? Ours did not last very well. Had great luck with a regular dishwasher, but those just don't last as well. Both pumps failed.

They're great for low use, but not every day dishes for a family. Replaced ours and love having a regular dishwasher again.

Kitchen Aid is Whirlpool's premium brand. They're usually good.

I haven't replaced mine yet. I'm not really missing it either. To me it's just as fast to hand wash them. When the wife starts bitching I guess I'll have to break.

If you have the D/W with the adjustable top shelf, the original tracks are garbage and there is an upgrade that is usually installed when the original breaks.

If you don't self diagnose the pump failure, they may not have been bad. Some techs will just change out the whole pump assembly rather than clean out an old pump because it's easier.

Yep- was the adjustable top shelf.

I was surprised when they changed the whole pump assy- Kitchen Aid did a parts adjustment on it, so I didn't complain- it's funny- in the business I'm in we can't just change whole assemblies like that- if I recall, it's just the seal at the diverter valve (hoping I have the terminology correct). I was surprised- I thought the tech would take it all apart and actually fix it.

Got a new Bosch. Not as quiet as they claim and doesn't have a heated drier cycle.
