My theology professor in the Catholic college I attended once said even an atheist can be a Christian. He was a Jesuit so they march to a beat of a different drummer but I guess his pov was that being a Christian is more about action and how we relate to our neighbors than what we beleive or how or even if we worship a deity.

Semantics, but I would disagree with the poster that you replied to and say that the broader theme of the NT is more about glorifying God. We do so by following Jesus, but that would not be true of an atheist Jesus follower.
