Let me get this straight, you paid over $500 for a jacket then had to spend over $200 for repairs just to make it 10 years and you think that’s good?

Guaranteed a $50 jacket from Walmart can last 10 years without any repairs

The "repairs" are mostly rewaxing, that you are capable of doing yourself. That only maintains the waterproofing. The jacket itself still serves its purpose without the maintenance, just not as well.

It keeps me warm when it is cold, repels water in the case of rain, and looks good. I have an Ashby (similar to a Bedale but a bit more tailored) in a dark olive color. I've had mine a while, like more than 5 years - hasn't been re-waxed, but I don't wear it hard (no pheasant hunts on the moor). It fits well into the way that I dress, I can afford it and has an aesthetic that I will be able to pull off as long as I want. So to me, not overrated nor overpriced. I would say I have gotten my money's worth, but I'm used to pruchasing buy it for life items.
