I used to enjoy playing it about 3 or 4 years ago before it became main stream. I lost interest in it and went back to playing golf for my recreation.

I agree it looked like he knocked the racquet out intentionally. Also looked like he immediately regretted it and tried to pick it up for the guy. It was a dick move initially and the guy was being a jackass but that doesn't justify a kick to the face.

Pickleball is a lot of fun, but the culture sucks arse. It's cult-like. Someone else said that pickleball players are so obsessed and are always talking about pickleball - which is very true. I've met lots of folks, and for many, it's like their whole lives revolve around pickleball. All their social activities and friends are pickleball related. It's a bit annoying.

After pickleball games end, players always touch paddles lightly over the net. He chose to use his hand and slap the other dudes paddle...hard. The way he slapped the paddle looked malicious and was obviously perceived that way by the kicker. But it's possible he was just amped up and got a little carried away and decided to high five the other dudes paddle hard.

I've been playing pickleball for 4 years now. Great sport for older adults and great for socializing. I've never seen any violent behavior on the court and I've played in many out of state tournaments. I have seen some poor sportsmanship but those guys are isolated quickly and don't return.
