I'd think they would work expeditiously to get out before the holiday, so probably see a verdict today.
If my future depended on thoughtful and honest deliberations I would be kinda pissed if the jury’s final decision was in part made because jurors wanted to finish up before a holiday.

The jury asked for and watched the video of the shooting this morning and listened to the dad's 911 call.
So I had to look up to see exactly what they were charged with.
quote:
All three men are charged with the same nine counts: one count of malice murder, four counts of felony murder, two counts of aggravated assault, one count of false imprisonment and one count of criminal intent to commit a felony.
This is what each charge details (I'm copying and pasting cause the Reuter's fricking website is stupid):
quote:
Malice murder (one count each)
Malice murder is when a person unlawfully and with malice aforethought causes the death of another person. The decision to commit malice murder can come in a spilt second or be planned long before.
A malice murder conviction carries a sentence of life in prison with the possibility of parole, life imprisonment without the possibility of parole or the death penalty. In this case, the prosecution is not seeking the death penalty.
quote:
Felony murder (four counts each)
Felony murder occurs when someone commits a serious or inherently dangerous felony and someone else dies during the crime, even if that murder wasn't planned.
The classic example is when two people rob a bank and a teller is shot dead. Even if only one person actually shot the teller, all those involved in the crime, even if unarmed, are considered equally guilty.
It is punished in Georgia by either life in prison with parole or without parole or the death penalty.
quote:
Aggravated assault (two counts each)
Aggravated assault in Georgia is defined as being an assault with the intent to commit another crime such as murder, robbery or rape and a weapon is used. It can be punished by one year in prison to a maximum of 20 years for each count.
quote:
False imprisonment (one count each)
A person commits the offense of false imprisonment when he or she violates the personal liberty of another, illegally arrests, confines, or detains such person without legal authority. False imprisonment is punished by one to 10 years in prison.
quote:
Criminal attempt to commit a felony (one count each)
It is a substantial effort to commit a specific felony crime. It is punished by one year in prison or up to half of the maximum period of time for which he or she could have been sentenced if the crime was successful.
Probably trying to hash out intent on the charges I think by reviewing what they're reviewing. I'm sure it didn't help that McMichaels' testimony contradicted a bunch of shite that was said in the 9-1-1 call and on video.
Reuters (and it's pop ups)

Then again, if you videotape your crime, don’t be all too surprised if the deliberation is easily expedited by the jurors.

This here though:
Makes me think the whole bunch lands felony murder.

I would think you'd have to have 4 murders for this..?

And the case against the videographer is tough.
Wait, are they trying all 3 at the same time? All 3 had such different roles that there had to have been some conflicts that would have made it more prudent for all 3 to hire their own attorneys and ask for separate trials. Even the father/son.
How does this work in Georgia? Does the prosecution default to try all 3 together, and it is up to the defendants to move for separation? Did they do this and it was denied by the judge? I understand that it’s not very cost-effective for the county to have separate trials about the same incident with the same facts, but it doesn’t seem to be in the defendants interests to be tried together either unless they just pooled their money together to go all out with the best defense team they could afford.
It’s crazy how little I’ve kept up with this trial after having been so invested with the incident when it first happened. It was pretty obvious after reading Georgia’s statutes that the father/son are both guilty of felony murder. Not sure about the 3rd guy. But I have paid almost zero attention to the trial, so not sure if anything new has come up I’m not aware of.

Each defendant has their own attorney. It is a weird situation for sure though.

I've honestly invested so much time in the Rittenhouse trial and streams that I'm tapped out for the next few years.

I thought I heard mentioned a while ago that he was entering a plumbing apprenticeship? Could be bs but it could also explain why he showed up at random times over the course of a month or so to see the progress if he was gun ho, but I may be really reaching.

I think most visits to the house were at night in the dark so that doesn't make the best sense, but you never know.

My parents do this shite all the time. It’s pretty laid back where they are, but I have to remind them here that copper theft is really common here and we shoot first ask questions later around here.

I'm thinking they'll all be found guilty of something but not the something some people want...
