How does that work with frozen food? The other problem I had with nanos and a small amount of fish, was that most of the (albeit cheap) autofeeders portion out about 4x's as much food as I like to put in.

I can't help you with the Nano's.
I do know more about 240g and up.

Some people like filter socks. Some don't.
I prefer to have a fuge.

The basic rule of thumb is the more gallons you have, the better and easier it will be to manage.

When I build my next house, I'm going to do a fully automated in wall system.

i love filter socks but i change and wash them regularly; otherwise they become a nitrate factory

Do you have to recure rock? I thought it was just a one time deal especially if it's dry

I make my own socks from white felt. I generally only use one a week after a good cleaning to capture loose stuff.

The fish isn't the hard part, it's keep your levels right that's difficult.

I've always been told you are not keeping fish or livestock, you are keeping pristine water and the fish/coral is just a benefit from that

Agree

Don't want to go too big though living in an apartment

Narrowed it down to Reefer 170 or Reefer 250. 250 is 65 gallons, 3 foot tank. Would be an extra $1000 when all is said and done.

i huess you have read what i have. The only pieces i could sell worth anything, i would think, are my Purple tang, Yellow tang, live captured Mandarin. As for Corals, I have a Australian Gold Torch which is the prize piece now my elegance died. and then i have a 4 headed purple hammer which is cool, a huge Duncan i have grown since it was one head, now like 50. A a mess of purple and gold zoas that i never took out of the frag rack and they over took that perch. so i just let them there.

Most definitely if it's been used before.

You have tons of dead bacteria and dead critters in any used rock.

You have to acid bathe them then get their PH back right in RO water.

No promises

And penguin I'll continue to post here

I have a 10 foot empty space on the far side of my office with book shelves on either side and I've not used my build out for my office yet and I think a nice big arse aquarium with coral would be nice

I have no interest in fish unless I'm catching them but a peaceful aquarium interests me I'll post what I learn here and keep this thread updated into what I purchase. I'll probably start small to determine how I like it or if it'll die in my care
