Pepsi said Thursday that starting early next year, its Aquafina brand of water would be test-marketed in aluminum cans at some retailers and food-service providers.
Stacy Taffet, the Pepsi vice president who oversees the company’s water brands, acknowledged that while many kinds of fizzy water already came in aluminum containers, drinking still water from a can would be “a newer behavior” for many people.

I’d prefer drinking out of a metal container.

Have you ever had water packaged in an aluminum can?

Well, hundreds of millions of people drink water coming through metal pipes (and copper pipes when it reaches their fridge), so how about you just tell us.

Yes. It tastes like water.

I mostly drink sparkling water from a can but I know that’s not what they mean here.

People in hurricane prone states might (might) associate canned water with disaster relief but most people don’t live in those states.

The canned Katrina water was gross but maybe that was just a temporary thing and Aquafina will do it better.

I have a steel bottle from Target that I sip water from all day. The water gets colder and stays colder than in a plastic bottle.

That doesn’t make sense.

Anyone who wants to avoid plastic bottles will be recycling these cans. You know what else can be recycled? Water bottles.

I normally only buy beer in cans so it shouldn't be a stretch for water

Bottles fill up the bin too fast so they’re annoying. I prefer cans since they can be crushed.

Definitely. I believe Dasani has tried this before. Another knock on cans is they cant be resealed like a bottle and they're heavier and harder to carry around. But again, the major knock is the taste. Just filling a metal container is one thing, but water that has been packaged in a can has an altogether different taste.

You can get canned non-carb water on a lot of flights.

Plastic gives off more flavor than metal so the taste you like is probably plastic.

I don’t think the demand for recycled plastic is really there. A lot of those bottles just end up in the trash. Cans are more easily recycled and there’s more market for them.

I've liked water from everywhere I've ever had it except the stuff that Budweiser canned after Katrina. Even canned carbonated water isnt bad.
