This is what the $1.7 billion dollars Entergy received after Hurricane Katrina to harden their ageing infrastructure looks like.
That was nearly 20 years ago, a generation.

They’ve always had lots of rotten poles. I wondered at times if their maintenance strategy was to wait until storms come and knock down bad poles so they could get federal money or something
I'm not taking up for Entergy, but they replaced a pole in front of my house a few months ago because the pole was damaged. I talked to one of the crew and he told me that Entergy sent out a survey team that inspected every pole in my neighborhood and identified poles that had damage that should be replaced. And he said that they are working through the list, replacing damaged poles. The day after they replaced the one in front of my house I saw them on the next street over replacing another pole. So it seems that they are attempting to be proactive in replacing damaged poles.

That's why crews constantly replace them.
Did you think they last forever?

Likely an AT&T pole. Entergy can replace it if someone reports it, and then Entergy can invoice AT&T for it. Under the vines, is probably an AT&T emblem. Pole has phone and cable line, with one phase and neutral lines on top, it appears.
I bet it's BellSouth

I know of one town in AR where the Entergy poles are so bad it looks like they are preparing defensive positions against the army of the dead in Game of Thrones. Damn things been leaning forever, and just slowly go over more and more until the end up in the road.

entergy's plan is to train all the termites in the rotten poles to hold hands in order to keep the poles from falling down.
